I travel frequently for work and usually choose Courtyard by Marriott because the hotels are consistently reliable. Unfortunately, this location falls well below the standard I expect from the Marriott brand. From the moment I checked in, there were problems. The room was very dated, the door was difficult to open and close, and the TV was much smaller than what I’ve come to expect at a Courtyard. There was also no hot water in the shower. To make matters worse, the bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly—there was pubic hair on the back of the toilet and strands of hair in the shower. The issues continued throughout my stay. The TV service was out the first night, so I couldn’t watch anything. The following night, the hotel’s internet was down, which meant I couldn’t use my laptop to get work done. The most frustrating experience happened on my last morning. I picked up breakfast to take back to my room, but my key card wouldn’t work. I went to the front desk and waited at least five minutes for someone to come out. After my key was reprogrammed, I returned to my room only to find it still didn’t work. With my hands full carrying breakfast, I had to go all the way back to the front desk and wait another five minutes. That’s when I was told the battery in the door lock was dead. An employee had to come to my room with a battery pack just so I could get inside. By then, my breakfast was cold. I understand that occasional issues happen, but having problem after problem during a single stay was extremely disappointing. Between the lack of cleanliness, maintenance issues, internet outage, TV outage, and poor overall experience, this property does not reflect the quality I’ve come to expect from Marriott. I would not recommend staying at this location.

I recently stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott property and had a very disappointing experience regarding a security deposit that was never disclosed at the time of booking or check-in.|After my stay, I discovered I had been charged a room security deposit without any prior notice. While the amount itself is not significant, the issue is the complete lack of transparency and accountability. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to resolve the matter and have provided every piece of information requested by the hotel. Despite this, I continue to get the runaround.|Each time I contact the property, I am asked for additional details I have already submitted, only to be given new excuses instead of a clear resolution or timeline for returning my deposit. This ongoing back-and-forth has been frustrating and unprofessional.|Hospitality should include honesty and straightforward communication, and unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. The only positive aspect of my stay was the friendliness of the housekeeping staff.|Overall, I am extremely unsatisfied with how this situation has been handled and would caution others to be aware of potential undisclosed charges and the difficulty of resolving issues afterward.

I was pleasantly surprised! The check in process was friendly and pleasant. The room was modern and clean, and I really loved the couch. I was able to relax for a bit before bed after traveling in. I really liked the bed against the bathroom wall instead of the shared wall with the next room as it cuts down on noise. The bed was comfortable, and the fridge and microwave were great. The Bistro area was nice but they were closed when we got there. The "market" was open 24 hours so I was able to get a cold beer to take up to the room along with some snacks that suited me just fine. I was surprised to see that the Market had some healthier snack options which was great. Overall a very nice stay and I would stay there again in the future.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at the Courtyard by Marriott Abilene Southwest/Abilene Mall South was unacceptable from start to finish. The property is extremely outdated, grimy, and poorly maintained. The overall condition of the hotel felt neglected, with worn furnishings and a general lack of cleanliness that was immediately noticeable upon entering the room. Unfortunately, the most disturbing issue was finding roaches in my room. Not just one — multiple. When I went to the front desk to report it, the staff member acknowledged that they had recently been dealing with a roach problem but believed it had been “taken care of.” Clearly, it had not. I was moved to another room at approximately 2:00 AM, which was already an inconvenience. However, upon settling into the second room, I discovered that the toilet would not flush. At that point, after being awake in the middle of the night dealing with back-to-back room issues, I decided I had no choice but to leave the property entirely. I ended up having to find another hotel at 3:00 AM, which was both stressful and exhausting. No guest should have to relocate hotels in the middle of the night due to cleanliness and maintenance failures. I was promised Marriott Bonvoy points as compensation for the issues and was told that management would be contacting me. I have received neither the points nor a follow-up call from management. The lack of accountability and follow-through only adds to the frustration. Between the roach infestation, broken plumbing, outdated and dirty conditions, and poor customer service recovery, this stay was beyond disappointing. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We were here for 5 nights and only got housekeeping service ONCE!! We even specifically asked for clean towels and never got them. Things were falling off the wall, phone didn’t work, smoke alarm went off during the night and it took them 3 HOURS to get it turned off. TERRIBLE-save your money and stay somewhere else

Hotel definitely needs some maintenance work, our tub was rusting, pool needed cleaning, and patio door was hard to open. We were put in a different room then booked (room we were given did have AC which the other did not) and are awaiting a refund and to be contacted by the manager about said refund. Updated review may be needed.

I have been staying at this hotel for over two months and the best service is provided by Cameron and miss Sue, housekeeping needs improvement and the bistro is poorly equipped many of the items on the menu aren’t in stock which tarnishes the Marriott chain and economically impacts Cameron. Overall the customer service makes up for the lack of product.

Pros: The staff was very nice! Cons: This must be the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed in. The rates were almost $200 per night and we couldn't even walk on the carpet. The room smelled like animal pee. We had to cover the couch with an extra sheet so we could sit on it. The toilet seat was loose and very worn. The coating on the bottom of the bathtub was starting to deteriorate and the sink was slow to drain. The lighting was terrible. They wanted to charge $5+ daily for parking.. but we refused to pay it. The parking lot needed to be repaved, had mud puddles and the lights on one entire side of the parking lot did not work at night. In fact, the hotel sign on Ridgemont Road wasn't even lit up. The day we arrived a very suspicious lady was in her car in the parking lot for hours. The lobby coffee on Saturday morning at 9:45am was lukewarm. I didn't even mention everything, but for a Courtyard I was beyond disappointed and disgusted.
